Take Action

Support Federal Early Learning Challenge Grants

Today, the U.S. House of Representatives Committee on Education & Labor will be voting on the Early Learning Challenge Fund, a part of the higher education student loan program changes in H.R. 3221. Hopefully the full House will be taking up the bill prior to the August recess. Ready 4 K supports this legislation, which will provide a significant increase in resources for improving the quality of early childhood education in child care, Head Start and Early Head Start, and schools. Raising the quality of early learning and development wherever children spend their time is important to their school and lifelong success. Specifically, the bill would provide $1 billion a year for the next eight years to the states in the form of a competitive grant program.

Your Congressperson needs to hear from you today. Congress is dealing with a number of critical issues these days, so it's even more crucial that they understand how important early learning is to their constituents.

Please call them and urge them to support the Early Learning Challenge Fund in H.R. 3221.
You can contact your Congressperson by calling the U.S. House at (202) 224-3121.

Deadline for action: 7/24/2009.
